McBush - Please Not Another 4 Years of Bush! Noooooooooooooo...

“My friends…we have a serious situation here.  I tell  you this my friends because, well….you are my friends.  The situation is dire my friends.  You don’t need to know what this situation is specifically, my friends.  Just let me tell you that if you don’t like something, anything! – Obama is responsible!  That socialist, terrorist, tax-cutting, elitist man named Obama did it! He is the root of everything wrong in the minds of people like you…Joe Sixpack, Soccer Betty, and you, yes you Mr. and Miss Main Street USA.  I am talking to you my friends.  And if you vote for him my friends, the world will implode the second the official election results have been announced.  Don’t attempt to disagree because you don’t know the situation my friends.  You don’t need to.  The old woman lived in a shoe.  Is it nap time yet?  God Bless You”.   (Nobody actually used these words in pubic, that I am aware of.  I made them up but they sure sound similar to the crap that spews from John McCain’s mouth.)

Do words similar to those above fit right in line with your political views?  Do you think that the past eight years have been just wonderful under the leadership of President Bush?  In your opinion…is Sara Palin just the breath of ‘real Main Street’ fresh air that McCain needs to convince the people of the United States to hire him as the leader of their country?  Finally, do you have a McCain/Palin sign or bumber-sticker within pubic view?  If you can answer yes to any of these questions (with a straight face of course) then please do the rest of the world a favor and stay home on election day and absolutely no early voting for you!  You need to rest and evaluate your entire thinking process.  Skip voting this year – as you can’t be of sound mind if you are thinking that four years of McCain wouldn’t be just like another four years of the most disastrous presidency in US history – Bush!

For the rest of you…those that do think Barack Obama is going to bring a positive (and desperately needed) change to the United States – get out and vote!  Do it now!  Get off your ass and vote!  Vote early if possible!  Convince others to vote too!  Don’t think that this race is over (although it sends a chill up my spine to think that someone, anyone – can really think that McCain is a more desirable presidential candidate than Obama).  Your vote does count and it’s needed to show that rest of the world that the United States is not filled with idiots!  The people of the United States know that Bush was a mistake!  McBush  would be a mistake!  This is what we need to prove to the world!  We will not be fooled again!

Vote Barack Obama on November fourth!  Don’t just do it to make this country a better place!  Do it so that the rest of the world is a better place!  Do It!  Do It Now! VOTE!

The Caterpillar by Michael McKennedy

The Caterpillar by Michael McKennedy

Yesterday’s photograph for the 2008 Things I saw photo galleries collection came about because my 6 year old son found this caterpillar near a Weeping Willow tree while playing near our home in West Bolton, Vermont. The subject (the caterpillar) was placed on a piece of the wooden play structure while I zoomed in snapping ten photographs. The wind was tearing by; the clouds were thick making the light less than optimal; the caterpillar would not remain still (although what should one really expect from a caterpillar?) and I didn’t have a tripod with me so only two of the ten shots were even in focus.

I would like to thank this caterpillar for being patient as well for not leaping off the play structure while I struggled to get a good shot.  I would also like to thank Ari for his interest in ‘cool looking’ bugs.

This morning at about 6am the snow began to fall. It is fall, correct? I mean – the season. Yes, this is Vermont and yes, it snows in Vermont especially here in West Bolton but it’s October 22nd! By the time I left for work there was nearly an inch on the ground!

You might be thinking, “What the _ _ _ _? Does this person not like snow or winter in general? If so, then why live in Vermont?” Well, if you are (or were) thinking such thoughts then here is what I have to (or would had) say (said) in reply….”I do enjoy winter but c’mon I don’t even have my winter tires on yet! For one thing, the economy sucks so I don’t really feel like spending the money (that I don’t have) to purchase a set of winters. Secondly, it’s October…if it’s going to snow I want at least a foot so I can get some cross-country skiing in on the golf course behind my house!  I don’t care for this dusting of a teaser!  Bring on the blizzards!  Bring on the bitter cold!”

Then again, the optimist in me says…if it’s snowing now in October…maybe there will be plenty of the white stuff to ski/snowboard on! (I am still talking about snow here…not the kind from the disco parties at such places as Studio 54 in the late 70′s and early 80′s (this is pure speculation…I was born in 1970 and Studio 54 opened in 1977…and I don’t think that they allowed 7 year old’s into Studio 54.  With that said, I don’t really know if people at the club were really high on the white stuff, then again…take a look at the clothes they wore, the music they listened to and what about that enormous ‘Man In The Moon’ with the cocaine spoon?…they must have been high on something!))  I recall last year’s winter where there was plenty of snow in the early months but sometime around January and February it just plain sucked for getting out into the back country without scuffing the crap out of my skis on exposed rocks!

Anyway, I was glad to see the first snow. It didn’t stick to the pavement so the tire issue was not a factor in making my 25 mile work commute a dangerous one.  I was not hopped up on the ‘happy powder.  Nor was I jamming out to the Bee Gees (is it possible to ‘jam out’ to the Bee Gees?) on the car ride to work so I am really not sure what I am attempting to complain about. I look forward to another long, cold Vermont winter. Heck, it’s one of the reasons I moved here from ASSachuesettes (typo on purpose)!

I have them! But really…must you have them?

I won’t dare say that this is a complete list of all of my favorite music recordings of all time and this list will not be in any order but alphabetical. This list even contains a few that I don’t really ever listen to anymore but…they help complete the collection and deserve some recognition, at least by me!

Why the list then? Why not? It’s my blog and I can do whatever the heck I want!

Wine : by Michael McKennedy : 8:08pm : October 20, 2008

Wine : by Michael McKennedy : 8:08pm : October 20, 2008

Yesterday I took about 36 photographs to come up with this addition to the Things I saw photo galleries collection.

The photographs used to create this image were shot in my living room. I placed a wine glass carefully on top of another glass (because I didn’t want the table to show). Then I mounted the camera on a tripod and set the camera to automatically take three successive photos while I poured the wine into the glass from about a foot above.

I then spent the next hour (or more) editing the photos to create the illusion that they were in the same place at the same time.

No, I was not drinking the wine at the time (in case you were wondering) and no, I did not drink the wine when I was done either (but I might drink it tonight when I get home from work).

Beauty Of Fall by Michael McKennedy :: 12:10pm • October 18, 2008

Yesterday’s contribution to the Things I Saw photo galleries was taken down at The Stream.  Many of the leaves have already fallen out here in West Bolton, Vermont. This shot was lined up perfectly with the afternoon sun hanging in the background causing a glowing effect.
