I have been hearing rumors of a new Metric album coming out but I don’t know when! Do you?

I have heard a few songs that are rumored to be on the next album.

For example:

Freddie – A classic rockin’ Metric song and it hasn’t even been officially released yet!  With such lyrics as…

Got balls of steel, got an automobile, for a minimum wage
Got real estate, I’m buying it all up in outer space
Now that the truth is just a rule that you can bend
You crack the whip, shapeshifting trick, the past again

how can you go wrong?

Stadium Love – So far this one is okay, not my favorite of the bunch but maybe the band will work some magic on the actual album.

Twilight – This one has not grabbed me yet. It’s good that’s for sure! but it doesn’t kick my ass like ‘Freddie’ does! (when I say “kick my ass” I don’t mean in “Tool” kind of way!  Metric as well as Emily Haines & The Soft Skeleton have their own “ass kicking” methods, maybe I should have selected a better phrase?)

Give Me Sympathy – Another great one! Emily asks the question, “who would you rather be, The Beatles or The Rolling Stones?” I know the answer to this one – The Beatles of course! but then again…would I rather be a dead Beatle or one of the living dead – a Rolling Stone? I’ll stick with ‘dead Beatle’ (no offense Paul or Ringo but when 50% of the band is dead well, you know how it is)!

Joyride -another great Metric tune….Emily really gets into the synth on this one!

So far, I am torn between Freddie and Joyride as my favorites.

The question is really… when?  When do I get to hear something new by Metric (for all I know the recording could be on sale right now), other than via YouTube?  Don’t get me wrong…I find that watching the YouTube videos are a satisfying way to keep the Metric buzz alive (listening to their music helps too) and really wouldn’t the best thing be to just see them live.  The best part about it is that Canada is right up the road from me!
