Image Title: Symmetrical Me
Time Stamp: 10:25am
Location: Richmond (?), Vermont – Driving down Gov. Peck Hwy
Photographer: Michael McKennedy
Description: This one has been through the processing ringer! Half of the image was selected (the right half) and it was pasted as a new layer. That layer was flipped horizonally and slid over covering the left side of me. Next, a good old Dave Hill affect (the gritty-dirty, bring-out-the-imperfections look) with an extra dose of unsharp mask as described in my blog post here. And……not done yet! Next, I took the clone stamp tool and covered the visible line created by merging the two images. Then, using the clone stamp tool again I covered a few of the more obvious skin blemishes, freckles etc…to remove from the symmetrical look. I also erased one of the hairs that curled over the edge of my forehead. I think I finally finshed off with some contrast / highlight adjustments. Whew!
Oh, and I must say that I am really not as unhappy as the image above makes me appear. The look was deliberate. I am generally a very happy guy.
About the project: The ‘Things I Saw’ photography project began January 7, 2008. Since then I have shot, edited and posted one photograph per day – every day. As of January 01, 2010 I had taken a total of 26,204 images, 726 of them made it to the Things I Saw photo gallery. Take a look at all of Things I Saw photo galleries here.
